Crafted for life, these shell jackets are made to last for many ski adventures to come.

Investing in a premium shell will enhance any winter day’s activity, but it can be hard to know which shell jacket to choose. We are avid lovers of ski mountaineering, backcountry skiing, and alpinism, something that shines through in our carefully developed selection of shell jackets. Our ski shell jackets are designed for longevity and ultimate performance with just the right features, all in a durable waterproof Cutan® fabric that is fluorocarbon-free. All jackets are equipped with a RECCO® reflector and feature a helmet-compatible hood. Crafted for life, these shell jackets are made to last for many ski adventures to come. Here we will guide you through our shell jackets that are perfect for the mountain.

Waterproofness

All our shells are made from Cutan® - a Klättermusen proprietary technology developed to improve on existing breathable, waterproof fabrics. Cutan® fabrics are fluorocarbon free, soft, and silent. At Klättermusen we also use a DWR (durable water repellant) that is 100% free of fluorocarbons. DWR is a treatment that creates a water repellent (hydrophobic) surface on the fabric and makes sure to keep you dry throughout the day.

Activities

Our shell jackets are designed with an activity in mind, meaning that features and fit are optimal for that intended use. Our main focuses are backcountry skiing, ski mountaineering, and alpinism, but the jackets can of course be used for any outdoor activities you see fit.

Fit

Klättermusen jackets typically have an articulated fit that allows for freedom of movement, crucial for skiing. The fit may vary from a more relaxed fit for backcountry skiing, to a closer, athletic fit for alpine skiing. Jackets can vary in length, with some being longer for extra coverage, while others are shorter for a more athletic look. This means that a size Large can appear different in size since the intended usage and movement will differ. Choosing your normal size will make the fit match the intended use. If a more relaxed fit is preferred, then we suggest going up a size.

Brage 2.0

Brage 2.0

Brage 2.0

If backcountry ski-touring and maybe some alpine skiing is your passion, then Brage 2.0 is an excellent choice. Brage 2.0 is intended for shorter trips in the backcountry, where chasing powder is in focus. Occasionally you might take the lift for quick access to off-piste powder. Brage 2.0 is an all-time favorite, and it’s not hard to understand why. The fully waterproof jacket with taped seams is super soft, flexible, and silent, whilst being an utterly robust and durable hard shell. Brage 2.0 has a relaxed fit that’s ideal for free-skiing, and allows you to easily fit layers underneath. It pairs well with Jökull 24L backpack, where avalanche equipment is easily accessible. Further match with the Brage 2.0 Salopettes for a complete look.
